on gays, public humiliation, and zuma

My parents and I (a.k.a. "my family") went to the ABS-CBN-sponsored fair along Commonwealth Avenue--- Paskong Pasiklab-- the other night. It was "very jologs" (ulk!) of us to go there to thinnk that we didn't have any kids with us (the usual reason that grown-ups use why they attend "kids' stuff" though the adults themselves tend to enjoy as much as, if not more than, the kids do...) but we enjoyed just the same.

We literally just walked around the place, stopping every now and then at booths where there were many spectators. There was, for instance, this booth called "Pasaway", where a gay was seated atop an improvised aquarium. When we arrived, a man was hitting the protruding lock, which secured the seat, with a ball provided in the booth (for a fee, of course!). Apparently, the objective of the "game" was to hit that lock to bring the unfortunate homosexual down the water-filled reservoir. The man from the audience was able to hit the lock once, and based on their reaction, the people (including my parents) seemed to have enjoyed the scene. I almost enjoyed it myself have I not felt "guilty" (???!!!!!!!!!!) for having to laugh at someone...

And then there was also this other booth (I forgot what it was called) where two persons -- a man and a gay -- were made to stand behind a flat wooden surface, with only their faces made visible to the audience. The people were supposed to throw water bags (oooppss!!!!!!!! couldn't think of a better term...), those like the ones being sold by households when they post "Ice 4 Sale" in front of their gates. Except that they weren't frozen. In that case, public humiliation would definitely not be the issue anymore!!!! And, (un)surprisingly, the gay was the "darling of the crowd". I could still hear the audience's laughter everytime a plastic of water landed on the homosexual's face.

Lastly, we had a face-to-face (well, almost...) with ZUMA (I already admitted how jologs of my parents and I were, to be there, right? hehehe). Not that different from the hero (or was he a villain??) of what used to be a popular tv series, he was just as bald though his physique was not as intimidating. He had about ten or more snakes with him inside an enclosed glass room including a ENERMOUS python and a cobra. He played with those reptiles as if they weren't scary at all and he even kissed one or two of the vipers. After the 5-minute show, I was thinking how the shivers had cost me no more than 20 php!!!!

On our way home, I heard my dad said, "Ang trabaho nga naman... magkapera lang."
